what are Just wars? why do u think states go to war?

I mean do states go to war with one another solely for the reason of accumulating more territories and wealth for themselves?

I don’t know about states, but countries go to war for various reasons.

Many years ago countries conquered nations and took them over forming empires. Rome was the largest at one time and owned most of the world at their peak.

I think a Just War would be one waged to free people from oppression without any monetary gain or conquest of land. Like the Iraq war, for example, a war to stop the advancement of terrorism in the middle east.

Note that US wars are funded by congress, so they cannot be waged without full support from both parties. I’m not sure why some still say Bush lied when there’s no evidence of such. I guess ignorance has no bounds.

WWII was won to stop Hitler, so that would be a Just War. Actually even Vietnam was a Just War, but the media lied about the success and got us to pull out before it was completely won. This resulted in the slaughter of millions of innocent people.

I’m sure there are other examples. Do a search and read as much as you can on past wars to get a feel for the difference between conquests for accumulating land and freeing people without occupying their land.

American Wealth Compared To World

American Wealth Compared To World
American Wealth Compared To World American Wealth Compared To World
Do you think that the US government should make a public apology to the African-American for slavery?

I think its very easy for a white person to say “get over the past, get over slavery, it happened such a long time ago.”

European-Americans, whether they come from a long line of American citizens or whether their parents came over dirt poor from Europe in the 20th century, continue to benefit from a white privilege that allowed them to move up the ladder into the suburbs.Slavery perpetuated a racial hierarchy that affects every American today, no matter how subtly. Just compare any rates of achievement, poverty, imprisonment by race; blacks are nowhere closing to catching up.Slavery’s replacement, segregation, blocked generations of African-Americans from building up wealth because of redlining, intellectual capital through inferior public schools, and political capital through disenfranchisement.

they had black ppl selling black ppl a 100 years b4 a white man had even thought about it.

US has plundered world wealth

Question for women: what goes on in your mind when a guy in order to impress you flaunts his wealth and power?

I am a member in social networking sites such as Friendster, Hi5 and Orkut and can’t help but admire some guys out there who make the efforts to put some real outlandish pictures and they don’t fail to invite their female contacts to come and take a “peek” at their latest accomplishments: one guy was posed next to a Tiger (that was in Thailand and I know it’s harmless I’ve been there) – another was supposed to be on Mt. Everest.

Invariably, there are some guys who would always seem to “try and put their best show” – it seems a bit unnatural to me as if humility and modesty has little value, or is it? Are you really TURNED ON by Guys who display their power and money, no I am not calling a “vulgar display” but a display is a show-off isn’t it

I’m prolly gonna sound vain and preppy, but if he can promise to take care of my family, then he has a chance. ALot of women here are going to be like “ugh, typical men!” But what they fail to understand, that if this guy is marriage material, he is going to be the main breadwinner in the family. And I want a guy who can take care of me and my son without me having to worry. But, if he has NO personality, or seems like a serious playboy, I’ll take my chances with a man who isn’t as wealthy.

yes, I am “turned on” by a man with money, in hopes that my son and I will be secure.
